El estilo de vida de un radiólogo.
March 24, 2012
How often do Radiologists exercise:
According to the CDC, between 1999 and 2009 the percentage of men aged 18 years or older who met the 2008 federal aerobic activity and muscle-strengthening guidelines increased from 19% to 22%.[8] These guidelines recommend moderate to vigorous aerobic activity performed in episodes of at least 10 minutes, and preferably spread throughout the week. Adults should also do muscle-strengthening activities that are moderate or high intensity and involve all major muscle groups on 2 or more days a week. According to the Medscape survey, then, radiologists do better than the average American male, and the older they get, the more they exercise. They also do better than the general population of physicians who answered our survey. About 56% of radiologists aged 31-40 years exercise at least twice a week, compared with 49% of all physicians surveyed. And their pace keeps improving with age: After age 61 years, more than 76% of radiologists exercise at least twice a week, compared with 72% of the general physician population. Whether this greater increase of exercise in older patients is a matter of free time or consciousness of aging cannot be determined from this survey.
Es interesante porque los radiólogos estamos sentados en la oficina TODO el dia. Por cierto, dentro de la especialidad, yo estoy en el grupo que más dias a la semana se ejercita!
What Types of Exercise Do Radiologists Engage in Most?
For both radiologists and all physicians, aerobic activities are by far the most common and equally popular exercises (over 70% for both). About 35% of radiologists chose weight training as their second most favored exercise, with competitive sports and winter sports next in line. About 13% of radiologists engaged in yoga, tai chi, or other Eastern practices, which is almost on par with the 14% of all physicians who engage in these activities. Among write-in responses, radiologists expressed major interest in specific aerobic activities, including cycling, running, and walking.
